品種名:Big Austin(或Austin)(オースチン) (中譯:奥斯汀)

發表時間: 1996年(:Woodard x Gardenblue)とBrightwellの交配種 (另一說:T-100及Brightwell交配種)

樹型及特性:樹勢:中(有一說樹勢強),直立性,果實生產性高，種子數少…缺點:種子較大

收穫期: 早生種(與Climax同時期)(各地不同，僅供參考)

------(有一說為(極晚生.中期).亦有一說為(極晚生.前期))某些日本資料把兔眼品系成熟期歸類在”極晚生”，然後再區分為前期.中期.後期三種，在日本兔眼品系成熟期分別為(前期)8月上旬.(中期)8月中旬.(後期)8月下旬)

果實大小、特性:中-大粒(有一說為大粒)果皮為明青色.果實比climax稍軟,果肉硬度及風味皆良好

甘味 : 多，酸味 : 中，風味香氣:良

果蒂痕的大小、乾溼 :小.乾

種植注意事項:自家結實性弱、是需與其它品種混植以增加結果率的品種.

建議授粉樹: Climax ,Britewell,Premier,Powderblue, Alapapha

低溫要求時間:450-500hrs(資料來源:日本)

Plants are moderately vigorous, productive, and upright. Berries are large in size, blue in color, firm, have dry scars, good flavor, and good shelf life. Ripens May to early June.

Fruit ripens with and sometimes just after Climax. Plants have good upright growth and flower approximately one week after Climax. The fruit is medium to large in size with a good flavor and stem scar. Austin is recommended for home and commercial use. Suggested pollinators are Alapapha, Climax, Brightwell, and Premier.

An early-season variety for Mississippi .

Chilling requirements: 450 hours to 500 hours.
Bloom time: Blooms five to sevent days after Climax.
Ripening period: Ripens early to mid-June in Southern Mississippi .
Plant yield, vigor and growth habits: Plants are very productive, moderately vigorous and have an upright growth habit.
Berry quality: Berries are medium to large size with good color, stem scar, and flavor. Fruit firmness is less than Climax.
Drawbacks: Austin produces large seed which is sometimes considered objectionable.
Breeding history: Released by the University of Georgia and the United States Department of Agriculture–ARS in 1996; public release.
